SINGAPORE, 25th June 2021 – Singapore Esports Association (SGEA) will be selecting esports athletes to compete at the 31st SEA Games this year.

The 2021 Southeast Asian Games, commonly known as the 31st SEA Games, is scheduled to take place in Hanoi, Vietnam from 21 November to 2 December 2021 and will feature 40 sports. Esports, being one of the selected medal sports, will have 10 medals spread over 8 game titles, namely: Arena of Valor (Mobile), CrossFire (PC), FIFA Online 4 (PC), Free Fire (Mobile), League of Legends (PC), League of Legends: Wild Rift – (Mobile), Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (Mobile) and PUBG Mobile.

The upcoming National Selections of this year’s esports athletes will be held on the 10th and 11th July 2021, for the games League of Legends: Wild Rift – Mobile (Male team), League of Legends (PC) and Arena of Valor. National Selections winners and direct esports athlete picks will be nominated to be part of the national squad and results of the National Selections will be announced on 12th July 2021.

SGEA is proud to support our athlete development programme with our partners KIOXIA, Razer and 100PLUS for the 31st SEA Games. The athlete development programme will consist of modules such as high-performance training, sports science workshops and media training across the three months leading up to the SEA Games.

Mr Ng Chong Geng, President of SGEA, said, “The SEA Games presents an opportunity for Singapore esports to make an impact in the region again. Our esports athletes shall be properly prepared and given the right tools to make this happen.”

In its esports debut in Manila, Philippines at the 2019 SEA Games, Singapore saw its esports squad bring home a Silver and Bronze medal for Starcraft 2 and Hearthstone respectively.
